HONEST REVIEW: Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Lip & Cheek Color

After watching Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor promoting this product, my interest piqued and I said to myself: I NEED TO TRY IT OUT !

So one and a half weeks back I got home this baby from a mall. The selling point of this product is that you can use this as a lipstick AND blush!  Since I already own bright lipsticks, I chose a neutral shade-Blush Velvet.  There are 9 other varieties of shades..ranging from reds to pinks to coffee shades. I really liked the coffee shades but settled for the nude colored Blush Velvet.

The other shades : Burgundy Lush, Pink Plush, Cocoa Soft, Rose Touch,Crimson Silk,Coffee Lite,Plum Feather,Fuchsia Sude, Tangerine Fluff

The product comes in a mousse like  texture which is clumpy and dry. To use it on your lips, a foam applicator has been provided for your convenience. I usually layer my lips with 2 coatings.  The finish is matte and a bit powdery. No shine, or gloss at all. I like matte lip colors so it works well for me. Lakme claims it is light weight and indeed it is. It has a pretty decent staying power. You might need to wear a lip balm before application if your lips are prone to chapping.

To use it as a blush, you can just swab the product on your fingers or directly on your cheeks and blend in. I felt very disappointed that no sponge/beauty blender was provided for easier blending on the cheeks. Using your fingers seems like a very half-assed way of applying blush.

This product is great for college going girls or women who don’t have too much time to get ready before they step out. You can carry this product in your purse along with some compact powder and eyeliner for any unplanned coffee dates or a night out.

At 575 Indian Rupees it is a pretty good deal for the value it offers. I was going through nykaa.com and saw it is available almost a 100 bucks cheaper at around 490 Indian rupees. You can even experiment with different shades and see if it goes with your skin-tone on Nykaa. Watch my YouTube demo of the product here:

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY: BUY. Lakme 9 to 5 Lip and Cheek Colour is a great addition for the woman on the move. For me personally, this product loses some points because no applicator is provided for using it as a blush. Also, the packaging is very boring and dull.

I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions?
